    After a night out downtown

The City of Orlando calls the core of downtown the Downtown Entertainment Area. It has more than 100 restaurants, clubs and bars that serve alcohol past midnight, and the city requires extra security at late-night venues on weekend nights and holidays. That means a lot of arrests happen between midnight and closing time, and families usually find out by a phone call in the early morning.

The most common downtown charges we see are DUI, battery or other fighting charges, disorderly conduct and drug possession. Whatever the charge, the process is the same: booking at the Booking & Release Center, a bond set by the schedule or by a judge, then release after the bond is posted.

Common downtown charges and their bonds

Many downtown charges have a set amount on the bond schedule, so the bond can be posted soon after booking. These are the schedule amounts for the most common nightlife arrests:

Amounts from the Ninth Judicial Circuit’s bond schedule (Administrative Order 2022-03-04), which match Florida’s 2026 statewide schedule for these charges. *Possession of most drugs isn’t listed by name; $2,500 is the schedule’s default for a third-degree felony without violence. A judge can set a different amount at first appearance, and some charges must wait for a judge. The premium is 10% of the bond with a $100 minimum per bond, so a $500 bond costs $100.
